Glass & Ceramic
Chicago, Illinois
Chicago Transit Authority
Measuring over 700+ sqft, this glass and ceramic installation is located at the Chicago Transit Authority’s Thorndale Red Line station on the city’s north side. “thrive” celebrates the ever-changing growth and diversity of the neighborhood surrounding the station. Wild rice, once grown by the area’s early inhabitants, sprouts from lush, meandering stalks emerging out
of bold blue bands that recognize the fresh water gift of nearby Lake Michigan. And the stalks, in turn, bear iconic “fruits” reflecting the natural and creative elements that make the community unique.
